Moorhead (KFGO AM) After some delays, the search committee for a new president at Minnesota State University Moorhead gets down to business at its first meeting thursday.
Committee chair, Bemidji State University President Richard Hanson says a national search is underway for Edna Szymanski who retires at the end of June. Hanson calls this a "huge transition" so the committee is being very careful about the process. He does not believe MSUM's looming multi-million dollar deficit will scare off top notch candidates.
Hanson says the list of applicants will be cut to 8 or 9 for airport interviews by February or March with a short list of candidates invited to the campus for a second round of interviews in early April. The MNSCU board will select the new president at its April 23 meeting. A new president should be in place by July 1, 2014.
