Charges likely after gun accident at Fargo motel

FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Charges are pending against a Fargo motel guest who shot out a window Monday night.  Employees at Motel 6, 3110 39th Street South called police after hearing a gunshot.

Police found a shattered window and remnants of a slug from a small-caliber handgun in the lobby. Surveillance video pointed to a man staying at the motel. He was questioned and detained.

Lt. Joel Vettel says somehow the intoxicated man's gun discharged while he was handling it. He says normally the lobby is busy but at the time the gun went off there wasn't anyone there.

Long form complaints sent to prosecutors include charges of reckless endangerment, unlawful dicharge of a firearm within city limits, and a possible "conceal-carry" violation.
