HORACE, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- The Red River Regional Bomb Squad was called out over the weekend after a suspicious item was spotted along the Sheyenne River in the Horace area.
A Cass County Sheriff's Deputy observed two cylinders wrapped together with black plastic and duct tape. The package was then wrapped in wire and connected to a cinder block, which was tethered to the river bank.
A robot was used to take a closer look, but the SWAT team couldn't break it open or X-ray it. Authorities then decided to blow it up.
It's not known who put the device there or how long it had been there.
