WEST FARGO - (KFGO-AM) -- The long-time director of public works in West Fargo is no longer with the city.
Barry Johnson has been fired. Mayor Rich Mattern says City Administrator Jim Brownlee made the decision which was based partly on recent job performance reviews which raised concerns with his leadership and communication with employees and the public.
Johnson had been with the city 20 years and made $111,000 a year.
Mattern says he sees Johnson's departure as an opportunity to consider a reorganzation of the department, which has about three dozen employees.
Johnson has a right to appeal.
