Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has concocted an out-of-this-world promotion for his forthcoming album, Enclosure .

On Sunday, the album was loaded onto an experimental satellite and launched into space.  The satellite will orbit the Earth, beaming a stream of the album to listeners who download a special mobile app that will track the satellite.

When the satellite, called Sat-JF14, is over your geographical region, you'll be able to stream Enclosure on any iOS or Android device loaded with a special Sat-JF14 app.  Streaming is available now and will continue through the end of the day on April 7, when the satellite will stop transmitting.  The album will be available via all the usual earthly outlets beginning April 8.

" Enclosure is a musical masterpiece and we're thrilled to be able to utilize our proprietary space technology to facilitate this unprecedented form of space-enhanced distribution," says Randa Milliron , co-founder and CEO of Interorbital Systems, the spacecraft manufacturing company providing the technology for the promotion.

A link to the app download is available now at JohnFrusciante.com Enclosure is Frusciante's 11th solo album.
