Grafton, ND (KFGO AM) Walsh County Sheriff Loren Wild had to be rescued by state plows after he became stranded in white-out conditions on I-29 east of Grafton late Monday afternoon.
Wild says he was headed to rescue two Winnipeg travlers who ran out of gas on I-29. Wild made it within two miles of their car when his four wheel drive truck got stuck. Wild had a full tank of gas and was in constant radio and phone contact with his office so he wasn't too worried. State D-O-T plows from Grand Forks got to Wild and the travelers Monday night and brought them back to Grand Forks early Tuesday. He says the plows pushed deep snow both ways on the Interstate.
Wild says he's been in worse situations and was only doing his job.
