WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFGO AM) -- The push continues for a Federal minimum wage increase.
Senator Al Franken is backing a bill that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10.
He says that would mean a raise for nearly half a million Minnesotans.
Franken says the legislation would also tie the minimum wage to the inflation rate, ensuring future raises when the cost of living increases.
Prospects for the bill's passage in the senate are unclear, especially in an election year, and chances for support in the Republican-controlled House are less than ideal -- with Republican Speaker John Boehner saying he doesn’t intend to support a wage hike.
