BISMARCK, ND. (KCND AM) -- The North Dakota Mineral Resources Department holds a hearing today on a new policy to reduce natural gas flaring in the Bakken.
Department Director Lynn Helms says the current rules on flaring were written in the 1980s - before the Bakken boom.
Helms says one of the things the department will be considering is what kind of production restrictions could be placed on wells already connected to a gathering system.
Helms says he expects a lot of people will testify at the hearing at the Mineral Resources Department in Bismarck.
