Amy Senser transferred from prison to work release

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The wife of former Minnesota Viking Joe Senser has been transferred from prison to a work release program after serving the first part of her sentence for a fatal hit-and-run.

Corrections Department spokesman John Schadl says Amy Senser was moved from the state women's prison in Shakopee to an unspecified residential correctional facility in the community early Thursday. She'll remain in the work release program until at least Oct. 20. If she completes it successfully, she'd get to return home on supervised release until her sentence expires in December 2015.

Senser was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide in the 2011 death of a 38-year-old man, who was struck while refilling his gas tank on a Minneapolis freeway exit ramp. The 47-year-old has been in custody since July 2012.
