Ace Frehley  is a busy guy these days. The guitarist -- who's fresh from being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the rest of his former band,  KISS  -- turns 63 this Sunday, but will have to celebrate on the fly: he's got his hands full with a pressing production schedule for his new solo album.

The new collection, titled  Space Invader , will be Frehley's first since 2009's  Anomaly , which in turn was his first solo release in 20 years.  Space Invader  is coming along nicely, Frehley says, telling ABC News Radio that he has "about 15 songs in the can, and we're gonna pick the best 12. We're in the process as we speak."

The first single from  Space Invader,  says Ace, is "a remake of  Steve Miller 's 'The Joker.' [It's] great. I think everybody's going to be pleasantly surprised.  I made it my own, I gave it the little Ace Frehley spin."

As for the single's status, Frehley says, "'The Joker' is pretty much mixed and is going to be the first single. And the rest of the songs will be mixed by the end of April, we'll have it in the can and then we have two months to put it out."

Space Invader  hits retail and digital outlets on June 24.
