MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KFGO AM ) -- A case of measles in a 19-month-old Hennepin County child has been confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Health.
It's the first reported case of measles in the state this year.
The department's Kris Ehresmann says officials are in the process of identifying anyone who may have come into contact with the child and been exposed.
Measles, which is highly contagious, has been rare in the U.S. in recent years.
Ehresmann says this particular case was contracted in another country.
So far in 2014, 129 cases have been reported in the US---which is the highest in a four-month period in the last 18 years.
