Bismarck attorney appointed to district judgeship

BISMARCK (AP) - North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has appointed Bismarck attorney James Hill to a judgeship in the South Central Judicial District Court.

Hill replaces Donald Jorgensen who stepped down from the bench in July after three decades.

Hill has worked as a trial attorney in Bismarck since 1981. He also served as an assistant U.S. attorney in Bismarck for five years.

Dalrymple says Hill "is a dedicated and highly qualified attorney who is well respected by his peers.''

Hill was among four finalists chosen by a committee tasked with screening candidates for the Bismarck-based judgeship.
