"Ole Fishlips Is Dead Now" Is a Love Song, Says Chiodos Singer Craig Owens

Chiodos is on a giant summer tour that has the band members on the road at least through the end of September in support of their latest album, Devil . The first single from that collection -- and a big favorite at shows -- is "Ole Fishlips is Dead Now," a pain- and anger-ridden song that seems to be about the thrill of ending a terrible relationship.

It turns out that Chiodos frontman Craig Owens  meant something different when he wrote "Ole Fishlips."  He tells ABC News Radio that he was inspired after reading Jillian Flynn's book  Gone Girl , and sat down and wrote the song. "It's basically just about learning to live with crazy," he said. "With the ups and downs of a relationship and the fact that love's not all rainbows and sunshine."

It's hard to interpret "Fishlips" as a love song, but Owens says that's exactly what it is. "I think 'Ole Fishlips' is a good way to describe love," he insists. "The moment that you...truly know you love someone [is] when you can look at them when they're crazy and still feel the love even though you feel the hate too, a little bit."

You can judge for yourself by watching "Ole Fishlips Is Dead Now" on the  Chiodos VEVO channel , or by catching the band's tour. Here are the remaining Chiodos tour dates:
