Aussie Band Claims Courtney Love Dumped Them Because They're Dudes

Courtney Love 's currently on tour in Australia, playing to enthusiastic fans and good reviews. There's a few folks who aren't so thrilled, though: the members of an Aussie band called The Demon Parade , who say they were hired -- and then fired -- for being guys. Or more clearly, for not being women.

Demon Parade wrote on their  Facebook page  that "a couple of months ago  we got offered the support for the Courtney Love tour," which the members thought was "rad!" and "Perfect timing, just ahead of our next release!" But then, they say, "U nfortunately for us we were then told a few days later that we did not meet the criteria... Which is 'The group MUST consist of two females OR ha ve a female lead singer.'"

Demon Parade goes on to say of Love, "if she really wanted to help out female musicians, how come she's got a backing band full of dudes?!"

So is it true?  The Australian music website FasterLouder investigated and discovered that, regardless of any requirements Love might have for opening acts, Demon Parade had never been officially hired by Love for the opening slot. “Courtney’s team informed Lennard Promotions of her requirements for the support act after Lennard Promotions had very kindly submitted our [electronic press kit] to her management,” the band's representative told the website.

Courtney Love's Australian tour continues this week, wrapping Saturday in Enmore.
