CAMP RIPLEY, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- Soldiers from Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas, Wisconsin and Ohio are competing in this weekend's National Guard Regional Biathlon at Camp Ripley.
They will be cross-country skiing as fast as possible with a .22 caliber rifle strapped to their backs and shooting at targets.
Major John Donovan says the national guard takes pride in the biathlon.
Donovan says the athletes have to be fast and shoot accurately to take first place.
The public is allowed to watch the two-day event.
