Longtime Minot-based district judge retiring

MINOT, N.D. (AP) -- The presiding judge of the North Central Judicial District in North Dakota is retiring after a long career.

Minot-based Judge William McLees says he'll step down at the end of June. He was elected a district judge in 1994 after serving as a county judge since 1983. He was re-elected in 2000, 2006 and 2012.

Before his judicial career, the Valley City native was in private legal practice in Watford City from 1976-1982.
