SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Building was at a record pace in South Dakota's largest city in 2013.
The $588.2 million in building permits were issued in Sioux Falls last year, topping the city's previous record of $523.1 million.
The city also posted records with 7,953 building permits issued, 292 townhouses built and 2,039 total dwelling units.
Downtown Sioux Falls President Jason Dennison says the numbers reflect a thriving business climate and a growing residential population.
