Billie Joe Armstrong has been added to the performance lineup for the Grammy Awards, which airs on Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS. The Green Day frontman will be teaming up with country singer Miranda Lambert to pay tribute to late Everly Brothers singer Phil Everly as part of the evening’s In Memoriam segment.
You may recall that Armstrong released an Everly Brothers tribute album last November with singer/songwriter Norah Jones . Titled Foreverly , it features the pair covering all the songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' second album, 1958’s Songs Our Daddy Taught Us .
In addition to performing, Armstrong has a shot at taking home a Grammy in the Best Music Film category for ¡Cuatro!, a documentary that offers an inside look at what the band went through while making their 2012 album trilogy, ¡Uno! ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! The flick will be competing against a number of heavy-hitters, including Coldplay ’s Live 2012 and Mumford & Sons ’ The Road to Red Rocks .
