Holder speaks in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. (KCND AM) -- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says great progress has been made on issues in Indian Country but there’s more work to be done.

Holder spoke at the 4th annual Tribal Consultation Conference at United Tribes in Bismarck.

Holder outlined some of the issues his office and the Obama administration have been working on - such as making the reservations safer, and allowing tribes more opportunity to use self-determination.

Holder says President Obama’s scheduled trip to the Standing Rock Reservation next week keeps a promise he made to visit Indian Country - and hear Native Americans’ concerns.
