Is it possible to sell tickets to a concert that doesn't exist yet? Well, four friends from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl 's home state of  Virginia did just that.

The band has not played Richmond since 1998, so Brig White , John McAdorey, Andrew Goldin and Lucas Krost set up a "Bring Foo Fighters Back to RVA" campaign on Crowdtilt in March, hoping to sell $70,000 worth of tickets.

A message on the Crowdtilt site explains, "It's simple. The Foo Fighters haven't played Richmond, Virginia since May 17, 1998. That's more than 15 years ago and that's way too long. So we're taking it upon ourselves to bring 'em back!"

The crowdsourcing campaign worked and the hypothetical Foo Fighters show has become a reality.  The guys hoped that if they sold enough tickets, the rockers would agree to perform -- and they did.

The band tweeted on Friday, "See ya soon...let's have a good time."  The guys reached their ticket sales goal on Saturday, and now that the band is in, an official venue and date for the show is expected to be announced soon.
