Bono has slammed Apple for being "annoyingly quiet" -- at least when it comes to the company's partnership with the  U2  singer's anti-AIDS charity (RED).

In an address at the Cannes Lion advertising festival, Bono appeared with Apple Senior VP of design  John Ive .  According to  Billboard , Bono commented, "One of the reasons it's such a credit to have Johnny Ive on the stage is because Apple is so f***ing annoyingly quiet about the fact they've raised $75 million [for (RED)]! Nobody knows!"

The singer then held up his iPad with its (RED) cover, the logo of which was hidden inside the flap.  "Where's the (RED) branding?  Nobody can see that.  This is modesty run amok.  This is the Apple way.  They're like a religious cult," he said.  Bono was speaking to a crowd of the world's top marketers to drum up additional support for (RED).

You can find a full list of (RED)'s various projects and products on the  Red.org website .

Meanwhile, U2 is still planning to release a new studio album this year, despite rumors to the contrary.  A band spokesperson told  NME , "U2's album is planned for this year, is still on track and touring plans haven't been confirmed yet."
