BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A rancher and former North Dakota Senate Democratic leader who lost a bid for governor two years ago says he will seek his party's endorsement for state agriculture commissioner. Ryan Taylor ranches near Towner in north-central North Dakota.
He says he will make a formal announcement of his candidacy on Friday in Bismarck and Fargo. Republican Doug Goehring is the current agriculture commissioner.
He faces an intraparty challenge for the position from Judy Estenson, a nurse and farmer from Warwick.
