Strokes Frontman Casablancas Says Band's "Recording a Couple of Songs"

It's been almost exactly a year since the U.S. release of Comedown Machine , the most recent album from The Strokes .  And while the band's been busy since playing various live dates, there hasn't really been any talk of a new album, until now.

"We're trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do a couple of shows," frontman Julian Casablancas tells NME .  Granted, it's not much by way of news, but it does seem to confirm that The Strokes aren't yet done.

Casablancas is currently busy with his side project, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz , which previewed new material earlier this month at SXSW in Austin, TX.  He also released a preview video of assorted tracks from the as-yet unnamed album prior to that.

You can find pre-order info for the project with The Voidz at Casablancas's official website .
