MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Four men have been indicted on charges alleging they kidnapped and tortured people they suspected of stealing drugs and money from a "stash house'' in St. Paul.
Federal prosecutors announced the indictments Tuesday. The four are charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, and one is charged with using a gun during a drug crime. At least three also face state charges.
According to the charges and other court papers, the victims were released, but not before the captors allegedly nearly severed one man's finger and one woman was allegedly raped.
The documents say the cartel suspected the victims in the theft of 30 pounds of methamphetamine and $200,000. Two suspects were arrested in St. Paul April 15. A third was arrested after a police chase in Los Angeles April 17.
