FARGO, N.D. (KFGO AM) -- A garbage truck with its gate extended struck the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad overpass in the 400 block of 10th street north in Fargo early this morning.
As a precaution, train traffic along that route has been stopped and police closed the street until BNSF can determine the bridge is safe.
The railroad has an inspector on scene.
Sargent Tom Shaw tells KFGO News the driver and a passenger of the Minnkota Recycling truck were taken to Sanford Medical Center to be checked over but should be okay.
The impact took out several small chunks of concrete on the bridge and partially crushed the truck's cab.
The driver also downed an overhead powerline in the parking lot of Minnkota Recycling nearby and struck a traffic light at 10th street and 5th avenue north.
The driver has been cited.
